HELLO UTAH
It has been so long since I have posted. I had such a great time in Utah. The flight there was too bad, but it was very long. and very hard to entertain a little baby the whole time. I spent 2 weeks in Utah where Brystal got to meet the family. They loved of course, (who wouldn't) and she was pretty good most of the time. We were always going going going so she did get a little tired of doing so much after a while. It has been nice to get home and get her back into her schedule, but we miss being there already. We saw lots of friends and family, went to lunch (alot) and even went to a movie. Brystal was blessed while we were up there as well. She is growing so much. She is starting to just babble, and has started to laugh outloud now. I can't believe how big she is getting, but she is still so small. I love her guts. Oh and it would not stop snowing the whole time I was there. Oh my heck, this picture doesn't even do justice of what it really looked like there. My front yard had about 4 foot snow banks. SOOOOO much snow. And then I came back home, and today in Houston, it is about 70 degrees and sunny. I went for a walk with Brystal today and didn't even need to put a blanket on her. It was hot. I miss the snow sometimes, but it is nice to be able to go outside and enjoy the weather and walk with the stroller without getting stuck in a snow bank.
BLESSING DAY
Brystal was blessed on February 3rd 2008. We did it in Utah where we have more family available to come. Nate was able to come out that weekend while I was there and bless her. I cannot even describe how happy I am to have such a great man for my husband. He did the best job on that blessing. I've never heard a better one, and I'm not just saying that cause it's my baby. It really was a very very special blessing, and I'm so glad that Nate was able to do it.
I know that Nathan loves his baby girl. I am the luckiest girl in the world right now.
WHITE DRESS #1
What a pretty princess. Her first white dress. Stay tuned over the years for more. She was so pretty and was so good. It was such a long hard day for her and she hardly complained at all. She was so good during the blessing, and when it was done, Nate lifted her up to show her off, and she just opened her big wide eyes for everyone to see how cute she is. I could just squeeze her guts out sometimes.
ONE HAPPY FAMILY
This was a very happy day for me. I just am so overwhelmed with happiness when I think of how lucky we are to have this little baby now, (and to top it off she's cute) But it was such a special day for me, something that I had been waiting for for such a long time. It was such a good blessing, I am just so happy, that's all I can say.
THE MEN
Michael, Clayton, Nathan, John, my Dad
These are the men who were so nice to come and help bless her. We really appreciate it too since it was snowing like crazy that day and some people couldn't come.
WHO WAS ALL THERE
My Parents, Kristie and Clayton, Tyler. And Nathan's two brothers, John and his family and Michael and Cindy. Lots of yummy food, but tons of snow. Some people couldn't make it due to the snow.
HAVE YOU EVER SEEN ANYTHING CUTER?
This is the cutest thing I've ever seen. I came home one night and my neighbor had brought by these bunny slippersand hat. I know what your thinking...The bunny suit in "A Christmas Story"
But this is about a Billion times cuter in real life than these pictures. I only wish that I would
have gotten them when I first got there to keep her warm.

JUST THE GIRLS
The day before I left we went to my cousin Skye's baby shower, (hi skye) and before the shower we stopped by Kristie's house and just got to hang out. I thought it was really fun. It was cute to see Kristie as a little housewife, as she is a newly wed. She made us some yummy chicken enchiladas and the Oreo desert which was amazing and I wish I would have eaten more, but was saving room for baby shower food. I would like the recipe for that Kristie by the way.
We are a weird family, and you can't tell this but these pictures were actually taken out of the refrigerator since that was the only thing I could fine to set up the camera on that would get us all in the picture. I love hanging out with my mom and sister. (Oh ya and Brystal, she was sleeping in the other room)

WHERE HAVE I BEEN?
Some of you may have wondered what happened to me. Well our internet quit working about 2 weeks ago (technically not our internet, just some wireless we were picking up for over a year) and so we finally had to cave in and buy our own internet. Well I had to wait and wait for it to get mailed to us, and then wait to get it set up. When I set it up, it didn't work. I was mad and was on the phone with the At&t people for almost 2 hours trying to fix it and couldn't get it fixed so I had to wait till Nate got home for the weekend to get it fixed. FINALLY, it works and we are back in business. You can imagine that without being able to blog for 2 weeks was quite traumatic for me. Let's just hope it never happens again. So I have alot of catching up to do.
Well here is what the latest scoop on us is. This month marks the beginning of the busy season at work for Nate. As most of you remember our last years experience with this, he was in Oklahoma City for about 6 weeks only coming home on the weekends. Well here we are again doing it again. So I have been alone this last week with Brystal, and to help me not get so lonely while he is away, I will be going up to Utah this Wednesday the 23rd through the 6th of Feb, for 2 whole weeks. My family will finally get to meet Brystal for the first time, and Nathan will be able to come up on the weekends where we plan to bless her in my parents ward on Feb 3rd if anyone is interested in coming. Then I will return to Houston for only about 4 days before I head off again to Iowa to visit Dusty and Hilary ( my brother and his family) Lots of traveling, but I'm so excited to see my family especially since they haven't met Brystal. So for those of you in Utah who I haven't seen for awhile, give me a call. I'll see you soon. Oh and if anyone has any tips on flying with a newborn?.....it would be helpful, I'm scared to death.
THUMB WARS
Before I had a baby, I swore that I would never have a kid who sucked their thumb. NEVER! I just didn't want to have to deal with it becoming addicting and having a thumbsucker in 4th grade. I thought, how hard could it be to just get your kid to stop sucking their thumb and put a pacifier in their mouth. I am finding out that it is harder than I thought, and now I don't judge those thumbsucking kids' parents. I've tried it all, I've put mittens on her hands which just get slobbered on, I've tried holding the pacifier in her mouth, which she just spits out and screams, I try to pull it out when I can be she has it back in her mouth faster than you can blink. It's really hard, and I'm still working on it. But I'm afraid there is no hope.
This is how I find Brystal most of the time while she is napping.
She mostly likes to suck her thumb when she is tired, or a little cranky. (which can sometimes be a blessing when you can't run and put a binky in her mouth or pick her up every 5 minutes)
Naptime pose.
Here she is trying to get in both thumbs. It's official, this girl likes her thumbs, and nobody is stopping her.
But how could you not just love this little thing. She is so adorable when she sucks her thumb, but hopefully she'll grow out of it soon because it won't be so cute when she's 10.
Here are the sound effects that go with it.
M.D.
I just love to see Nathan holding Brystal, and He loves to hold her. So I like to get lots of pictures of them together, and I hope that they can have a close relationship throughout her life. She loves her daddy. Last night we watched this really dumb movie and it had a cheesy line that a father said to his daughter. He said she was an M.D.... My Daughter. Then when the dad died, she said she would miss her M.D.....My Dad. Sniff sniff, very touching. Anyways, we laughed at how cheesy it was and so I am labeling this post M.D. for Brystal and her Dad.

HELPING WITH THE LAUNDRY
I'm helping!
Here I am teaching her how to fold her blanket. Soon she will love to do the laundry, or maybe that is just wishful thinking.
Here is a picture of Nathan with a bow. Just kidding, but she really looks alot like him in this picture.
Isn't she just getting cuter and cuter everyday?
BRYSTAL ROLLS OVER!

I'M 2 MONTHS OLD
We took little Brystal for her 2 month appointment the other day. She is getting so big. She now weighs 9 pounds even. She is right on track to being a short thin little girl according to her measurements. She is very healthy. Of course she was so good at the Dr's office, until they gave her the shots. This one was very sad for me because she was just happy as could be minding her own business when she suddenly got stabbed with 4, I repeat 4 needles. She had a look of terror in her eyes and I wanted to cry with her. Poor little baby. But she has recovered from her stab wounds and is doing just fine now. We are so lucky to have a healthy baby
WHO DOES BRYSTAL REALLY LOOK LIKE?
Well, of course every parent wonders what their baby is going to look like, and I've had several people tell us she looks EXACTLY like me, or EXACTLY like Nate, but I just can't tell sometimes. When I tried this look alike meter, I tried it 3 times with 3 different pictures of Brystal and they all came out about 50/50. So....I guess she just looks EXACTLY like both of us.
