WHERE HAVE I BEEN?

Some of you may have wondered what happened to me. Well our internet quit working about 2 weeks ago (technically not our internet, just some wireless we were picking up for over a year) and so we finally had to cave in and buy our own internet. Well I had to wait and wait for it to get mailed to us, and then wait to get it set up. When I set it up, it didn't work. I was mad and was on the phone with the At&t people for almost 2 hours trying to fix it and couldn't get it fixed so I had to wait till Nate got home for the weekend to get it fixed. FINALLY, it works and we are back in business. You can imagine that without being able to blog for 2 weeks was quite traumatic for me. Let's just hope it never happens again. So I have alot of catching up to do.

Well here is what the latest scoop on us is. This month marks the beginning of the busy season at work for Nate. As most of you remember our last years experience with this, he was in Oklahoma City for about 6 weeks only coming home on the weekends. Well here we are again doing it again. So I have been alone this last week with Brystal, and to help me not get so lonely while he is away, I will be going up to Utah this Wednesday the 23rd through the 6th of Feb, for 2 whole weeks. My family will finally get to meet Brystal for the first time, and Nathan will be able to come up on the weekends where we plan to bless her in my parents ward on Feb 3rd if anyone is interested in coming. Then I will return to Houston for only about 4 days before I head off again to Iowa to visit Dusty and Hilary ( my brother and his family) Lots of traveling, but I'm so excited to see my family especially since they haven't met Brystal. So for those of you in Utah who I haven't seen for awhile, give me a call. I'll see you soon. Oh and if anyone has any tips on flying with a newborn?.....it would be helpful, I'm scared to death.

THUMB WARS

Before I had a baby, I swore that I would never have a kid who sucked their thumb. NEVER! I just didn't want to have to deal with it becoming addicting and having a thumbsucker in 4th grade. I thought, how hard could it be to just get your kid to stop sucking their thumb and put a pacifier in their mouth. I am finding out that it is harder than I thought, and now I don't judge those thumbsucking kids' parents. I've tried it all, I've put mittens on her hands which just get slobbered on, I've tried holding the pacifier in her mouth, which she just spits out and screams, I try to pull it out when I can be she has it back in her mouth faster than you can blink. It's really hard, and I'm still working on it. But I'm afraid there is no hope.

This is how I find Brystal most of the time while she is napping.

She mostly likes to suck her thumb when she is tired, or a little cranky. (which can sometimes be a blessing when you can't run and put a binky in her mouth or pick her up every 5 minutes)

Naptime pose.

Here she is trying to get in both thumbs. It's official, this girl likes her thumbs, and nobody is stopping her.

But how could you not just love this little thing. She is so adorable when she sucks her thumb, but hopefully she'll grow out of it soon because it won't be so cute when she's 10.

Here are the sound effects that go with it.

M.D.

I just love to see Nathan holding Brystal, and He loves to hold her. So I like to get lots of pictures of them together, and I hope that they can have a close relationship throughout her life. She loves her daddy. Last night we watched this really dumb movie and it had a cheesy line that a father said to his daughter. He said she was an M.D.... My Daughter. Then when the dad died, she said she would miss her M.D.....My Dad. Sniff sniff, very touching. Anyways, we laughed at how cheesy it was and so I am labeling this post M.D. for Brystal and her Dad.

HELPING WITH THE LAUNDRY

I'm helping!

Here I am teaching her how to fold her blanket. Soon she will love to do the laundry, or maybe that is just wishful thinking.

Here is a picture of Nathan with a bow. Just kidding, but she really looks alot like him in this picture.

Isn't she just getting cuter and cuter everyday?

BRYSTAL ROLLS OVER!

Today I was just trying to show Nate how well Brystal was playing on the floor and holding her head up by herself, when all of a sudden she started to roll over. She mostly looks like she just tumps herself over without knowing what just happened, but SHE DID IT! She gets a little scared after she gets on her back for a minute, but then she gets over it when she sees how excited mommy gets that she just lost her balance and fell over.

I'M 2 MONTHS OLD

We took little Brystal for her 2 month appointment the other day. She is getting so big. She now weighs 9 pounds even. She is right on track to being a short thin little girl according to her measurements. She is very healthy. Of course she was so good at the Dr's office, until they gave her the shots. This one was very sad for me because she was just happy as could be minding her own business when she suddenly got stabbed with 4, I repeat 4 needles. She had a look of terror in her eyes and I wanted to cry with her. Poor little baby. But she has recovered from her stab wounds and is doing just fine now. We are so lucky to have a healthy baby

WHO DOES BRYSTAL REALLY LOOK LIKE?

Well, of course every parent wonders what their baby is going to look like, and I've had several people tell us she looks EXACTLY like me, or EXACTLY like Nate, but I just can't tell sometimes. When I tried this look alike meter, I tried it 3 times with 3 different pictures of Brystal and they all came out about 50/50. So....I guess she just looks EXACTLY like both of us.
